How to Join a Team

To join a medical team for an upcoming visit to the hospital in Guatemala, you must first become a registered member on this site. Registering with a password gives you secure access to the information contained on the site and will allow you to build your profile and join a medical team.

Steps

  1. Either click on the Register New Account link at the top of every page or follow https://www.hospitaldelafamilia.com/user/register to go to the registration page.

  2. You will need to provide your e-mail address, a password of your choice, and your first and last name. You will be able to log in to the site in the future using your e-mail address. Please indicate your level of interest with the hospital. In this case, you would choose Prospective team member.

  3. Once you have pressed the Create New Account button, you will automatically be logged into the site. An e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you provided with additional instructions.

  4. If you are registering on the site to sign up for a team,  we require that you fill out the Volunteer Information, Travel Information, and Emergency Information sections. All of this is needed for us to book your travel to Guatemala.  To edit your profile, simply click on the Edit My Profile link at the top of your profile. You can also view and edit your profile at any time by hovering over the My Profile link in the header. This will also display a progress bar of how complete your profile is so you know what data still needs to be provided. Use the About Me section to list experience and qualifications that you can bring to the Team.

  5. Once you are registered and have filled out your profile, your information is loaded into a database that Team Leaders can access when they are looking for certain skills to complete a Team.  If you are ready to join a Team, a list of Active Teams looking for members is available at https://www.hospitaldelafamilia.com/medical-teams as well as in the footer under Upcoming Visits.

  6. To join a team, click on the name of the team to view the team page. You will see all the currently registered team members as well as any posted photographs for the team.  If your application is expected by the Team Leader or other team members, click on the Request to Join Team button to begin the process. You will be asked to agree with the Foundation’s liability policy and once that is complete, an automated e-mail with your request to join the team will be sent to your Team Leader.  If the Team Leader is not familiar with you or your qualifications, it might be better to use the Contact Team Leader button.  Here you can send a message describing how you might fit in with the Team. All decisions on Team membership are the sole responsibility of the Team Leader.

  7. When the Team Leader has approved your request, an e-mail message will be sent to you indicating that you are now an active member of the team.
